Oklahoma has been no stranger to severe weather during the months of April and May 2022. Tulsa roofing contractor, Pro-Tech Roofing has been busy helping homeowners and commercial property owners recover from storm damage by providing emergency roof repairs as well as roof replacements when necessary.
An early May storm saw severe wind and area tornadoes tear at roofs across the region. May 15, 2022 saw hailstones the size of grapefruits pound parts of the Okfuskee County in Oklahoma.
The hail and wind map below shows multiple incidents of ice stones larger than 1-inch in diameter throughout April and May. These storms happened on several different dates.
The map above shows just a few of the storms that hit Tulsa and surrounding areas in Oklahoma. Yellow bands indicate hail 1.00-1.25 inches in diameter. Orange bands indicate falling hailstones 1.50-1.75 inches in diameter. Dark orange indicates 1.75-2.00 inches in diameter. And Purple bands indicate ice stones 2.50+ inches in size.
Experts say that ice as small as 1-inch in diameter can cause roof hail damage. Oklahoma roofs have been hit with multiple instances this year.
In addition to that, strong winds and tornadoes lifted roofs off homes and buildings. Severe winds are indicated by gray bands, while tornado paths display as black streaks. Detailed incidents of hail and wind damage reports around Tulsa can be found here. Below are photos of roofing projects completed by Pro-Tech Roofing.
